Description

The Diploma in Canine Care, Welfare and First Aid prepares learners for welfare-led work with dogs in professional pet-care settings. It covers daily husbandry, safe handling, canine behaviour and communication, enrichment, accommodation, nutrition, hygiene, health observation, grooming, infection prevention, record keeping, emergency response and canine first aid.

The course is suitable for learners working, or intending to work, in boarding kennels, dog day-care centres, grooming salons, rescue organisations, pet-care businesses, animal-welfare settings and veterinary-support environments. It does not qualify learners to diagnose illness or provide veterinary treatment; learners are taught to work within their competence and refer concerns appropriately.
