These are some simple answers to common questions we come across.
What accreditation do your courses have?
The South African Board of Companion Animal Professionals recognise our courses. This association is a self-regulatory body aiming to improve the services offered by pet professionals. They are the registering authority in South Africa. Please visit their website for more information on the accreditation process for the various pet species.
We are certified by the International Council of Online Education Standards. Every course we offer has passed their stringent evaluation.

How is Pet Sense College connected to Compass Education and Training UK?
We are the exclusive representative of Compass in South Africa. The Compass courses available in South Africa can be viewed on our website. The only difference is that you will be paying for your courses in Rands to Pet Sense College and you will have a local tutor and facilitator who can assist with queries. Pet Sense College has merely made it easier for South African students to gain access to these internationally recognised courses.
Will my certification come from Pet Sense College or Compass Education and Training?
Once your course is successfully completed, Compass will provide the certification.
Who will help guide my studying?
When you register, you will be allocated a personal tutor whose job is to mark your work and to provide academic support and guidance if required. He or she will be available for one-to-one support and to answer queries by phone or e-mail if you get stuck. All our tutors are experts in their fields and many also have teaching qualifications and experience.
Can I get a hard copy version of this course?
We print your module and send it via The Courier Guy. The cost is R190.
Can I pay in instalments?
You can pay upfront for the whole course or pay-as-you-go. You will then pay the registration fee of R1390 once and the 1st module, thereafter you pay per module as you complete each one.
How does one go about paying for the course?
We South Africa’s leading e-commerce payment portal Payfast. Payfast have various payment options available. Simply add your course to the Basket, fill in your registratio form and Payfast will do the rest, safely and securely.
How do I register?
You can use our website to register or download the registration document and email to enquiries@petsensecollege.co.za and we will send an invoice according to your registration document.
If I buy more than one course, do I get a discount?
Yes, when ordering a second course, you will pay 50% of the registration fee. A third course will have no registation fee attached.
When do the courses start?
There are no specific start dates as each student progresses at their own pace. Our Progressive Dog Trainer Diploma and Dog Behaviour Training Specialist Higher Diploma run at specific times through the year, requiring attendance. All other courses you are start when ever you are ready.
Are there any exams?
No. Our assessments are based entirely on your coursework. Coursework consists of module questions, one or two projects and revision questions. Each module must passed in order to receive the diploma. If you fail a module, you get one chance to re-submit. Our practical courses have exams and those are the Progressive Dog Trainer Diploma and Dog Behaviour Trainer Specialist Higher Diploma.
